The Kings moves didn't make much sense.
But I read an article in a L.A. newspaper saying that the kings freed up the cap space to sign Kopitar and Johnson to long term contract. Apparently they want to lock up Kopitar for a 10 year deal, and Johnson for close to the same. This makes more sense to me for the future of the Kings. Johnson will become one of the best defenseman in the next 5 years, and Kopitar already has began enjoying his star status. But Lombardi has to realize they need support. So they NEED a decent winger and goalie.
