I was actually going to create one of these yesterday, but I didn't know how to upload the pics of the players like you did above me. Today is game 2 of the season and it pairs Yu Darvish against Lucas Harrell. I think the Astros surprise teams around the league, simply because they don't know these guys strengths and weaknesses at the major league level. Let's see if we can win the first series of the new year.

I go around at the beginning of the season and create yearly game threads for the less active forums. If you want to do them on a series or monthly basis feel free. In the meantime let me know if those are the right starting players. I will not update it thoughout the season though (I just simply don't have the time).

Too be honest, none of us or even Bo Porter know who is going to start, much less know the names right now. As of right now I think there are only 4 or 5 of us left talking about Astros baseball. Sad, and if anyone of the others are reading this and decide they want to post once they start winning again in a few years or even later this season, just don't. If you won't ride with your team when they are at the bottom, don't just on us once we're on top.

Im an Astros fan but to be honest this forum has been dead so i just come by and see whats going on every once in a while, but lets start something up. I think Bo Porter needs to talk to these guys and help them to put the ball into play. You cant strike out in double digits every game and expect to have success, they need to make the defense make some plays and if u put the bat on the ball it may fall in and turn into wins.

I agree, you can't have young bats developing bad habits so early in the season. You need to teach the young kids to be patient and much more selective at the plate. Then again, maybe they're all trying to make a big impact early and everyone's out there swinging away..

Good to see Porter sit Martinez for swinging at the first pitch. I think I'm starting to like this guy

I watched every game thus far and i have watched our guys take fastballs down the middle and then swing at curveballs or sliders in the dirt now thats unacceptable. I understand the take till you get a strike or take the first pitch approach but for a team striking out a lot that makes no sense. I do respect Porter for sticking to his guns but maybe let the young kids have some freedom out there to swing away at the good pitches instead of falling behind in counts.

I get what your saying, I think he's just trying to break them from getting up there and flailing at every pitch and he had to start somewhere. Now, if Martinez would've made something out of that AB he might've had an argument. He didn't, so Bo made an example out of him..

Lucas Harrell held the Mariners to one run in seven innings Wednesday to win a second straight start.

Harrell has been effective in four of his five starts, but all he has to show for it is a 2-2 record, a 4.08 ERA and a 1.57 WHIP.

Andy Pettitte allowed three runs over six innings as the Yankees lost to the Rays on Wednesday.

Pettitte made a few mistakes, but he also struck out 10 batters in the outing. The loss was his first of the season, but he's still sporting a 2.22 ERA and 1.13 WHIP through four starts. The ageless wonder should have an easier time Monday with the hapless Astros.

Astros manager Bo Porter said Friday that Philip Humber will remain in the starting rotation.

Humber had a 2.89 ERA through his first three starts, but he has been knocked around for 15 runs in five innings over his last two starts, bringing his ERA up to 7.99 for the year. It's not like the Astros have many great alternatives, so they'll stick with him for now

Kuroda (3-1), who made his fifth start of the season, gave up a two-run home run to Edwin Encarnacion in the second and a solo shot to Brett Lawrie in the third for his only damage of the night. The right-hander was charged with three runs and six hits in six innings of work in a 5-3 victory. He also struck out three and walked one on 103 pitches, 65 for strikes.

Kuroda has a 2.79 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP. He is scheduled to start Tuesday at home against the Astros. The 38-year-old has not faced the Astros since 2011. He is 3-0 with a 1.61 in seven career starts against Houston.

Erik Bedard was knocked around for five runs in three-plus innings Friday in a loss to the Red Sox.

Bedard's return to Boston was an ugly one. He gave up eight hits, seven of which were for extra bases. This included three solo home runs. The southpaw has allowed 13 runs in 7 1/3 innings over his last three starts and now owns an ugly 7.98 ERA for the year.

David Phelps will take Ivan Nova's spot in the Yankees' starting rotation.

As expected, Phelps will be promoted from the bullpen and could get an extended look as a starter with Nova on the disabled list. Phelps has a 5.29 ERA in six relief appearances this season.
