Mike Smith to Interview for DC Job....................CSN bay Area

The Raiders have hired a coordinator to run the offense and another to guide the special teams.

Head coach Jack Del Rio is still on the hunt for his defensive coordinator. The newest name expected to have an interview in the works has long been considered among Raiders' favorites for the position.

Former Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith is expected to interview with the Raiders, NFL Network reported on Tuesday night.

Smith has a strong connection with Del Rio. He was defensive coordinator in Jacksonville from 2003-07, when Del Rio was Jaguars head coach.

He left that post to become head coach of the Falcons, where he had solid success early on. His team struggled over the last two seasons, which led to his firing after the 2014 season.

Smith has a 67-50 record as a head coach, including a 1-4 mark in the postseason.

While Smith has been linked to Del Rio as a coordinator candidate in Oakland, his name hadn't surfaced in regards to an interview until Tuesday's report.

If Smith is hired, this coaching staff will turn into a true Jacksonville reunion. Recently hired offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave was also on Jacksonville's staff with Del Rio and Smith from 2003-04. Offensive line coach Mike Tice overlapped with Del Rio and Smith in 2006-07 as Jaguars assistant head coach.

The Raiders interviewed Eric Mangini for the defensive coordinator position earlier Tuesday. Mangini also interviewed to become the Raiders head coach.

If he's coming to interview, you just got to figure he gets the job. The only thing that could go wrong is the money. Done deal?

ESPN Raiders reporter Bill Williamson is "hearing" ex-Texans DC Wade Phillips "could get play" from the Raiders and Broncos for their defensive-coordinator vacancies.
Phillips, 67, was in the mix for the Redskins' DC job, but was passed over in favor of Joe Barry. Phillips coordinated new Broncos coach Gary Kubiak's defenses in Houston for three seasons from 2011-2013, leading them to three top-10 finishes in total defense. Phillips would be an excellent hire for either team.

Alot of good DC's out there. But why haven't we heard about a Jim Schwartz interview? Maybe him and Del Rio don't get along?

Ooooooooooo.. so interesting. The vaunted Jags' staff cruising to Oakland to save the day.

Dunno why everyone is getting excited about a coaching staff who coachd an even worse franchise in Jax.

Can't wait to see the excuses of why Carr can't get errr done because of this crap hiring session.

Wade will prob end up with the Broncos but if we get smith im cool with it. And if we could snag Mangini as a DB coach I'd **** myself

Don't pat yourself on the back too hard there... It wasn't rocket science to predict the future failures of a first time head coach and a first time GM and a rookie qb. Name one other franchise that has dealt with so many first at the three most important positions of a franchise. But, if your really gonna say that we haven't improved dramatically in the coaching department then your blind by your own thirst for being "right." This is by far and away the best staff we've had since before Gruden. All you can ask for I our situation is to get better from year to year. And we have.

Schwartz is my top pick as well, by a wide margin.

So muccchh better this year... from 4 wins to 3.

When Allen was hired, I was the only one calling for his head from his first preseason game when they aired the "Dennis the Menace" crap on air. It took 3 years for everyone else to come around.

When everyone predicted 6-8 wins. I said 3 this year. Spot on.

Called L Murray rookie year... even when he was injured.

Called Sio... from the day they drafted him. Hard to not see the chip on his shoulder.

Most of us called out Mack being a beast.

Hayden has been a baller since day 1... just like I said.

Carr has been crap and should've sat... right again.

Going to get some flack off this.... BUT, should've kept Hue. Said that. Proven to be correct at this point.

Going to trust my gut and go with the proven track record over people who are constantly incorrect and out of touch with reality.

    Wrong list:
