    Meredith signs minor-league deal

The Nationals announced the signings of reliever Cla Meredith...

Meredith, 27, owns a 3.62 ERA in 286 career appearances with the Red Sox, Padres and Orioles. A Richmond native who pitched in college at VCU, he was a trusted setup man for San Diego for several seasons, before struggling in 2010. The sidearm-throwing right-hander went 0-2 with a 5.40 ERA in 21 appearances with Baltimore, then continued to labor at Class AAA Norfolk (posting a 6.00 ERA in 20 games).

Meredith does have a history of success in the National League, owning a 3.26 ERA and 1.306 WHIP over 237 1/3 innings. He'll have a tough time cracking the Nats' Opening Day bullpen, though, with Drew Storen, Tyler Clippard, Sean Burnett, Todd Coffey, Doug Slaten and Henry Rodriguez clearly ahead of him on the organizational depth chart.

Nice write up by Zuckerman on Bryce Harper. Currently on a 15 game hitting streak and hitting, oh just .492 during that span.

Yeah, heard he was 4-5 the other night, with a grand slam and 5 rbi's. Dude has been tearing it up!

Harper has been kicking *** recently! He's tearing the cover off the ball. I wonder how long it will be until he moves up. I can't wait to see him on the Nats!

Phil Wood the other day said he can see Bryce playing at Hagerstown through the league's All-Star game, then move up to Potomac. That would mean 50+ games of domination at a level (something the Nationals want) then go a step from there.

I think that sounds reasonable. He would likely start at AA next season and a Mike Stanton like jump to the MLB wouldn't be too far fetched.

Another Bryce Harper article. This one comes from Jerry Crasnick. Good read.

Brad Peacock promoted to AAA. Looks like we'll see him soon as the season progresses.
