Stralman should be bolded as playing in Europe still. He said if he doesnt make the Leafs out of camp (and he wont) he would return to the SEL and play there.

^^^no doubt in my mind ur right.......if no one gets traded

if fergie trades any one of Kubina, McCabe, Coliacovo, White, Gill then stralman gets the spot out of camp...hes better than woz, staff, and harry

It is had to say. You could be right, but even Wozniewski and Kronwall hae been in the system awhile and are liked by management. All that is safe to say is if nobody is traded Stralman definitely isnt making it. Wozniewski or Kronwall as the #7 makes more sense, as they wont be hurt by not playing since their development is of no real concern.

Now if someone is traded it will be interesting to see then. He might be better, but like I said there is the seniority factor so who knows.

I agree, but what makes you think Kubina will be traded. There have been dumb rumours and talks all summer, mostly created by people like Eklund, that the Leafs were going to trade a defenceman. It hasnt happened, and now the talks are dieing down all together. It probably wont happen, and if it doesnt I see Wozniewski as the #7 probably, not because he is any good but because he is suitable as a #7 type who only plays due to injuries, although they might give it to Kronwall instead too.

Also the team did poorly in giving up alot of points last year. While shedding salary might be nice, I dont see why they would want even more inexperience on the blueline, when they gave up the 7th most points in the NHL last year of any team. They would probably want Colaiacovo and White to gain more experience, before bringing in any other rookies.

stralman and tlusty have the best chance at making the team but i doubt that will happen unless more injuries or by some rare chance theres a trade other than that expect teh same players from last year that are still on the current roster or anybody who hasnt been traded yet.

Even if there are injuries, unless they are long term they will probably use the spare type players like Newbury, Kronwall, Wozniewski, since they know the injured guys will be coming soon enough for their spots anyway.

In this defense situation, they should keep Kubina for the forseeable future as he's bound to bounce back and he can log minutes. A rookie in his place wouldn't be able to handle his minutes, nor would White/Coly. And this could only increase McCabe's minutes as well which we don't want. Then decide Kubina's fate based on how well White/Coly have developed over the year. If they've proved they can become top 4 D-men then trade Kubina and bring in this Stralman or Woz/Harrison as the 6th man.
