Hopefully some of you saw the Bears win in OT on Giroux's game winner on Friday night. So with that, Hershey is 1 win away from the big prize!!!

Hell yeah it was sick. I like what I saw from Francois Bouchard, he is developing nicely, though he still might not be ready for the NHL yet.

Awesome win! Congrats to Hershey on back-to-back championships, the great fans up there deserve it. This team is always fun to watch and they always have the best support in the league.

Couldn't have a better organization to be associated with and I hope this Washington-Hershey partnership continues for many years to come. Can't wait to see some of these guys make a big impact on the Caps in the coming years!

Carlson-Alzner really is such a sick pair, they'll do wonders for us defensively next year

    McPhee on Bourque: "premature"

McPhee also said reports of pending restricted free agent Chris Bourque signing in Russia are premature.

"It's not true as far as we know," McPhee said. "He's on a roster over there, so I think that's something they're contemplating. But he told Doug Yingst in Hershey that it's premature."

    Capitals sign Dany Sabourin

    Minor signing, but worth noting.

The Caps didn't make a big move on Day 1 of free agency, but they did make a move late yesterday, signing veteran goalie Dany Sabourin.

Sabourin signed a one-year, two-way contract that will pay him $525,000 when he's in the NHL. George McPhee has not commented on the signing yet, but the GM recently said 22-year-olds Semyon Varlamov and Michal Neuvirth will be the team's netminding tandem next season.

So it would appear that Sabourin is an insurance policy who's tagged for the minor league Bears and will play in Washington only if Varlamov or Neuvirth are injured or if one of the youngsters struggles.

Sabourin, 29, spent the entire 2009-10 season the AHL, but has played in 57 NHL games, including a combined 43 in the 2008-09 and 2009-08 campaigns for the Penguins.

The Quebec native will earn $250,000 in Hershey, according to capgeek.com.

So we're more concerned about winning a AHL championship than NHL?

haha I hope not. Jason Bacashihua signed w/ Colorado so this brings in a veteran to back up Holtby (assuming Varly and Neuvy are in DC).

Qualifying offers accepted by Andrew Gordon, Jay Beagle, and others

The Caps just announced that forwards Andrew Gordon and Jay Beagle have accepted their qualifying offers. Gordon's deal is for one year and Beagle signed a two-year contract. Center Andrew Joudrey and defensemen Patrick McNeill and Zach Miskovic also accepted their qualifying offers, the team said.
