Houston says hell no. Why wold they trade Royce White and take Varejao's contract if we're clearly rebulding and we already have more than enough big men to fight for PT? It makes absolutely no sense.

Why not? They get rid of Tyrus Thomas and get cap space for next year

there giving up a nice young center in mullens for almost nothing of value. sure they get some cap room but what good is that going to do them right now. there going to have to over pay any one coming in. sure cap room is always nice to have but there not in a bad money spot right now any way and no super star is going to go there no matter how much cap room you have. mullens is a keeper and keep-able. to my knowledge they still have there amnesty, hold on to him for another year and if he does not turn it around enough to get a good return amnesty him next summer.

Bobcats said if some teams is interested with Tyrus Thomas they will trade him tomorrow immediately. So this will be good for the Bobcats. They will save alot of money from this trade rather than amnestying Thomas next season.. I dont know if this is a win for Houston but with Varejao and Asik hassle tandem, That would be lethal. or maybe some picks from Bobcats/Cavs will make this deal more likely done deal.

do they want him gone : yes
do they need him gone : no
there not going to make a bad trade just because.
the rockets are not going to waste there assets on mid level guys either.
there better off keeping mullens and there picks. mullens is a young center of the future. giving him away is stupid. this trade hurts there team. they are in a good cap situation already. they dont need cap room that they when they cant bring in any body worth giving it all to. they need to wait it out for now and continue to gather young talent so when they do decide to make a move it can be a good one.

Well its a win-win here for the Bobcats.. This deal is to be able get rid of Tyrus Thomas 3yr contract with them. They already acquired Haywood for 3yrs and Mullens contract is expiring. We dont know if he's worth much from other teams next year, and he can also be re acquired by the Bobcats because he will hit the free agency next year. K.Mart is expiring and its a big relief in cap space for them.

bobcats are going to have a hole again in the 4 position. this might work but other teams should give a 1st rounder, as rick cho would like to have draft picks. might as well wait for a year if it turns out good with thomas, or just amesty is an option. he might not be for the future with the bobcats, since there are big names coming on the draft next year. for me not letting go of mullens, he is a good player coming of the bench/ if we landed NOEL next year.

NO, its not a win win, at all. your giving up youth and talent to get something you don't need. you are already in a good cap situation. you have money coming off the books next year and you still have your amnesty. thats instant cap right there next off season, and what are you going to do with this cap room bring a star in....... none are coming.....any time soon.

when instead you can wait for a better deal or hold on to him for a little bit of depth at the 4 and get him off the books any off season that you want to during the rest of his contract. its just not a smart play at this point.

sure you could flip kevin at the dead line but the chances are, that your not going to get a young, starting caliber center of the future in return. and thats what your giving up in mullens.

the cats need to bide there time and play it smart.

Charlotte wins this deal.. Being able to get Thomas out of there is basically the equivalent of adding Dwight Howard, Steve Nash, and Lebron James on minimum contracts.
