    Trade talks for Peavy begin

    Peavy Trade Talks Begin
By Tim Dierkes [October 13 at 1:42pm CST]

A nugget from Tom Krasovic of the San Diego Union-Tribune:

Kevin Towers said he has heard from clubs interested in trading for ace pitcher Jake Peavy. "We're having talks," he said. The GM said he wouldn't be surprised if the Peavy talks heat up next month.

MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan wrote today that Peavy said he will only waive his no-trade clause for a National League team. However, Peavy's agent Barry Axelrod said Friday that three teams in the American League could entice his client. The Yankees could be one; we discussed the possibility here. A possible Peavy trade will be one of the biggest stories at the Winter Meetings in December.

Pretty sure he'll wind up a Yankee..

    haha.

If the yankees do make a trade.

I can see something like Peavy for Hughes + Kennedy + Cano + Jackson + Montero.

    Or alot more spects.

They should create a bot for PSD, and everytime there's a good player that is going to be a free agent or a trade target, the bot comes into the thread and says, "I'll bet he goes to the Yankees!" that way other, real-life posters don't have to waste time saying it.

I don't see him getting moved.

But, with the Padres, you never know. Maybe they gut the team and start from scratch.

I don't see him getting moved, but if he does...how about the Rangers? They have an outstanding farm, REALLY need pitching, and Peavy's one of the few guys I could see succeeding there, as he gets a good amount of ground balls and a ton of strikeouts.

Peavy won't end up a Yankee because the Padres would be dumb to not build the team around Peavy. They have a nice core of players to build around, they just need 1 or 2 good seasons of Free Agency and they will be back near the top of the NL West, which isn't a hard division to win. Plus, having Chris Young for a full season next year will help improve on the horrible season they had this year.

It actually makes a lot of sense, because it would be desirable geographically for Jake, and the Rangers do have the prospects, but who knows who they'll deal, and who knows if Jake cares more about the opportunity to win a WS or being near his home in Bama.
