The Grizzlies got better attendance than many teams that are in the league now. But the Raps got Carter around that time while Vancouver had SAR as their franchise player. Not to mention the Grizzlies had a chance to sign Nash around then and decided not to. Management and ownership had everything to do with them leaving, not the market.
I see the baseless statements continue...For the first 2-3 years, the novelty effect of pro basketball in a city will draw a crowd. It's after that wears off that the true market for a sport becomes evident. I don't get what we're arguing here, it's quite obvious that Toronto, because of it's large, diverse population, and the fact that we are an East-Coast city in the vicinity of the real big-markets (NY/Phi/Bos) that we are the Canadian city best suited to support a pro-franchise. (And of course, remember attendance stayed strong at Raps games, even during a 4 year stretch in which the most games we won was 33, and we didn't make the playoffs once)
Flags Fly Forever
I never actually argued that Toronto wasn't the first place that the NFL would go if it came to Canada, it would be. But you will have to be happy with being the first option in Canada because you are not getting a team.

The Rogers center could support a team. There is so much unused space there. They would make the neccesary renos if an NFL team was to come there. They could easily get another 10.000 seats. Mr.Rogers would do that if he new he was getting a team, for petes sake he shelled out 100 million for the Blue Jays Roster....
Is that your profesional opinion as an engineer or an architect or is it just a shot in the dark.
You guys are sort of missing the point about the stadium. Toronto with an NFL team would have almost no revenue from tv, therefore attendance would be the major source of income for them. A much larger stadium than the Rogers Center would likely be needed to support the team.
