You're right. I stand corrected! In '07 they had five guys who hit only 23 HRs or more (four hit over 30). In '09 they had five guys who hit only22 or more HRs (four of whom hit 31 or more). So...
I'd trade for Bautista (and his two yrs/$28 mill... its not that much considering) or sign Beltran for close to the same dough. Power bats, RBI guys. Bautista hit all those HRs in that ridiculous...
At this point, the Phillies, Bosox and Yanks have finally learned that spending a gagillion dollars doesnt guarantee anything. The LAA and LAD are about to find the same exact thing. To me the SF...
I'm not so sure! He's injured ALOT. That contract is horrible. He is guaranteed $20 miil/yr between 2015-2019. I don't think it would take a whole lot more than someone stupid enough...
Thank God that wasn't serious! I mean, everyone knows that Nix is the leadoff guy!
I hope you're right!
Won't happen before June, but anyway:
What are the odds...hypothetically, of course... that if the offense sputters... and one of either Kratz, Valle or Joseph does well while Chooch is suspended... that a Ruiz for Granderson deal...
Wasn't nuts for Ross anyway... but unless some crazy trade happens... I guess we're looking at the opening day roster...as is.
Wow... Did Carlos Gonzalez just become available? If so, would the R-phils be good bait for Colorado? ;)
I'm not necessarily disagreeing... I just think they are too pitching heavy. Would like to have balance on both sides, because the pitching strained BECAUSE of the lack of offense. Cody Ross for two...
True... but they didnt win last year with their $100 mill/yr pitching rotation.
So heavy pitching + no offense + losing = $75 million payroll again... eventually.
If pitching and defense won...
Vernon Wells rumors now???? C'mon...really?? At least get Ross! (OMG, i'm reduced to begging for Cody Ross) Too much pitching. Please spend money on offense. Pitching doesn't fill the seats... I...
I thought th Revere acquisition was basically a) a cheaper/younger alternative to Bourn b) a direct swipe at Boras for his ridiculous asking price.
Funny to think though... he was Washington's opening day starter for a couple of years. How things have changed!!
Lannan is fine... who cares. #5 starters are a dime a dozen. If he sucks... you cut him , get a new one.
I like Marcum...but asking too much. Prob asking for Blanton money lol
Cuddyer would be fine... but Trumbo much less, much younger, and much better fielder.
5th starter is least of their worries. Guys who can pitch 150 innings with a 4.50 ERA are a dime a dozen. get a RH power bat first and foremost.
Like this signing... he got the best available guy on the market. Now find a way to trade for Trumbo and we're good to go! Make a three team deal or something... but its the best fit. Trumbo is...
Mlbtr posted Angels looking to trade Trumbo! Perfect fit..
Gargano reported it on the air today FWIW.
