You're not saying that runs driven in by walks and those by hits is a small amount? \
Walks don't drive in runs. So its not as good as a hit. Its good to get on base, though.
RBI's suck as a stat? When you hit to drive in runs, isn't that the most important stat of all? Isn't the most important job is to score runs?
Here, I always thought that was the name of the...
You understand they were .500 with 2 of their better hitters missing a half a season and a injured #1 starter?
This guy made the most sense in the entire thread.
And frankly, the bullpen will dictate what this team does as far as wins and losses.
Sounds like a cop out. He got it done, he gets the credit.
Players traded haven't amounted to anything.
How do you figure? Did he not get Cliff Lee, Roy Oswalt and Roy Halladay?
Assuming playing the Hector Luna of last year?
A WS series
Best record in baseball
Most wins in team history
.500 record with your ace hurt and 2 of your best guys on DL for half a season.
Yeah, I'd say he did OK.
Everything I read says that he must reach those vesting options or must agree to a new deal. I would assume it was a team option also and maybe it is.
And that is the only option there is. It vests or he is a FA or he can agree to a new deal. There is no team option, no player option. He gets 259 innings or he is a FA.
Halladay needs to pitch 259 innings. He's never done that.
All 3 have to happen.
1. He throws at least 225 innings in 2013.
2. He isn't on the disabled list at the end of 2013.
I think they are looking for a right fielder. Probably a right handed one. After listening to Amaro yesterday basically said **** or get off the pot, I don't think he has any faith at all in him. I...
Right now it looks like they are saving money. If they are saving money, they are going to be buyers this year, not sellers. They will never be out of it, so they won't sell.
Just a couple of things.
Halladay doesn't have a option. He is unlikely going to reach his numbers that will make next years contract guaranteed and he more then likely will be a FA next year.
I say it because he has hit in every level and made the majors in 3 minor league seasons. Pretty impressive.
Power yes, but Frandsen has been a .300 hitter the last 3 years that he has played. Better bat. Still no power but a better bat then Bruntlett.
I don't think they platoon Ruf. I think he gets a majority of the AB's with Nix mixed in some. If you are going to platoon those guys, Nix would get most of the AB because he would face Righties....
I think the problem is people just remember his bad games because he has been pretty bad sometimes.
But I don't know if some people understand that it happens to alot of pitchers.
Can you compare that with some people? Other teams #4's or #3's or maybe a 2?
Thats fine. He was also a pitcher that went from pen to starter to pen and needed to be stretched out.
6 IP is fine for a 4th starter. Then the bullpen has to do their job.
But if you look...
Now really, if you can't follow one sentence at a time. You might have some issues.
Basically they were bullets without the bullet.
I'm guessing numbers lie in this situation. He had a .270 BABIP last year and it was the 17th best in the NL last year.
And on top of it, as a starter in 2011 he had a .252 BABIP. 7th best in the...
