I'm interested
I wouldn't mind LaRoche, but I think we need more power from 1B or 3B, unless we get Holliday
good trade IMO, hopefully we go out and get Beltre or a power 1B
I'm definitely interested. Although I don't have a ton of posts, I am constantly reading PSD red sox forums and have been on PSD for years.
IMO hes a better longterm option than Lowrie
Any chance we can sign Dunn, flip Lowell and Buchholz to Texas for Salty and Young (Texas is in need of a 3B). Then we would have a lineup like this:
1) Ellsbury CF
2) Pedroia 2B
3) Ortiz DH
4)...
Perfect? Really?
Haha Towelie, I've also been here for a few years. And no, it's not panicking, its hoping that Theo creates the best team he can. I hope you are a man enough to admit that he slipped in the Teixeira...
1. Penny is probably going to be hurt by the All-Star Break.
2. Haha we'll see. There is always Kottaras
3. So you agree?
I just gave you one good reason. Do you honestly believe we are in a great position to compete right now? No, we could use a good #5 starter, a young catcher (or Tek), a backup outfielder, and at...
I don't. I think they should be doing something to make this team better. The Yankees have greatly improved and the Rays are a year older and more mature. I don't want to see the Red Sox be a third...
Looks like a 1 year deal. Kind of a pathetic attempt at countering the Yankees. We need some offense!

Definitely a good possibility. I still like Drew, Bay, Ortiz, Youk/Lowell, but I guess we will find out tonight.
On paper, you may be right. But I think he is trying to point out addition by subtraction; you cannot underestimate the make-up of a team and how it affects their play.
Thank you. Sometimes Red Sox fans have to understand that management works out of numbers, not emotions. Theo and co. are trying to replicate what the patriots are able to do, sign the best players...
Sorry Mr. Francona
I would agree with you that we should not put Ortiz and Drew back-to-back. But, on your other point, I believe we can move Ortiz to 4th without losing his RBI opportunities. Putting Drew 2nd, Bay...
exactly, with Lowell, Youk, and/or Drew behind him, he will have plenty of protection at cleanup. I still say put Drew 2nd, Bay 3rd, Ortiz 4th.. L, R, L combination while giving plenty of protection...
I completely agree. People are talking about Bay like he is a second rate outfielder. You have to realize Bay has put up consistantly great numbers in his short career (25+ HR, 80+ RBI) and is a...
1. Pedroia - R
2. Drew - L
3. Bay - R
4. Ortiz - L
5. Lowell - R
6. Youk - R
7. Lowrie - S
8. Varitek - S
9. Ellsbury - L
If we had not traded Ruth, we may not have won in '04 and '07. I think it was a good trade.
I would agree with most people here. If Bay proves himself in Boston, you give him a 4/5 year extension if possible. Otherwise, we can consider signing someone like Holliday, although I am nervous...
I don't understand how anyone could say this trade was terrible under any circumstances. We received one of the few hitters available that can replace (or come close to) Manny's hitting ability....
That is ridiculous. Bay is one of the only players out there that could come close to replacing manny.
