I've heard the Cubs are exploring the option of pursuing Diaz as a third baseman. Take it for what it's worth, but I certainly think it lends creedence to joeby's info.

The Cubs have money to burn. A 10% chance at an Olt-type (who is no guarantee to be a quality major leaguer, by the way) is in no universe a better option than just signing Bourn.
If he can make that change, he is absolutely useful in CF. Good OPS, good speed, good defense, good power, and all of it coming from CF.
Pretty good comparison overall....still, though, Brett coming anywhere near a .900 OPS is quite a stretch.
Great work by TY as usual! As I said in earlier posts, I am not in his class nor do I claim to be....I'll share the tidbits I get, nothing more, nothing less.
Feel free to ignore my info. :)
Maybe.
I'm reporting what I am hearing, and I'm making it clear when I'm sharing an opinion. Feel free to distrust as you please.
Is this a humorous remark? Not sure what passes for humor on this board.
Senor, what's your handle over there?
TY, have you heard any serious rumblings about Shark being moved? Might just be a tremor, but I've felt some movement (well, my guy has, but you know what I mean). Just not sure how much of it is...
Not sure why either...Headley is basically a PERFECT fit for this team. Entering prime, very solid numbers (in SD, mind you), good glove, money available and most of all, is a win now-win later fit.
I sure hope you're right, but I don't see it and I don't think anyone else does either.
EDIT: I now see the sarcasm...sorry I didn't give you more credit, Mell! lol
Haven't heard anything.
Personally, and this is just my opinion, I think it will take a mini-haul to wrestle Darwin away from this front office. It would need to be a team overwilling to pay for...
I could never consider myself in the class of those guys...I've been lurking and reading their info for quite some time. I'm just a guy who gets some occasional info...not nearly as plugged in as...
You're welcome to your skepticism, of course. :) I hope my info pans out.
And as to the user name....well, to be perfectly honest, I always wanted to be a sports' reporter (that didn't pay the...
I don't expect we will hear more until the 26th at the earliest. I could be wrong---wouldn't be the first time :)---but this is the way I understand it.
Doesn't sound like the Cubs are interested either, unless Bundy is in the deal. So, the conversation didn't last long.
Not an exhaustive list, but the teams I have heard have been in conversation...be it serious or exploratory.
From what I am hearing, teams in communication with the Cubs regarding Garza are Orioles, Rangers, Red Sox, Angels and the D'backs.
Texas- Yes
Seattle- No
San Diego- No
Baltimore- Yes
Cleveland- No
Absolutely.
Bowden is the worst source in the biz.
My understanding is that these calls were all preliminary in nature, more or less teams testing the waters. Nothing substantial offered, yet. There's just some groundwork being laid for the spring,...
Feel free to believe what you want. But I was right on the money with Haren if you care to go back and look. My guy is very closely connected to a beat writer.
As of now, it's a Cubs-Yankees...
