With the way Cowgill is hitting I don't understand the double switch. Collins is going to pinch hit for the pitcher, so why have him double switch.

Hitters don't see a lot of LHPs until AA. So, you really have to wait until perhaps until MLB before he'll see enough of them to learn to hit them.

This is not a double switch I agree with unless he's given up and wants to give Cowgill more ABs to increase his k total.
