Agree. If he's not the 5th or 6th man, he's first in line.
Phelps can be in the BP, like this year, if need be.
Exactly. Plus he is thriving and wants to be here.
I've been a fan of the idea for a while. I'm not sure I'd do it all year. Probably scale back mid summer so the rotation gets used to shorter rest for the postseason. Also, if you actually have...
I'm not a fan of that. We need to get younger. McCarthy is a different story.
Interesting snippet on RAB about the Yanks employing a 6 man rotation in September and maybe even next year. If you have the arms, I'm a fan. Not the whole year, but the first half.
My understanding is that teams want him on the roster before September so he is post-season eligible. He may lose offers if he waits too long.
1) Beltran was signed to be the RF.
2) Teix has still been hurt a bunch.
3) Beltran was signed months AFTER Abreu.
Well, there's all those games at 1B when Teix was injured. And let's see, DH would have been good. Seeing as how he'd be out best hitter by 10x. How's that?
Lol. Y'all are a joke. Nope. We couldn't use a guy hitting 300 with 31 homers. Nope. How could that help. Not with Teix, it's not like the guy misses games...oh, wait....yeah, that's right, we...
5.1 innings 4 hits, 1 ER is a good start.
Bird is on fire. So is Ref again. And another good start for Turley.
As bad as the offense has been, we are like 11th in baseball. That and a studly rotation can win.
The pitching has been fine, not good. We are getting 5 innings out of our starters and overworking our BP. That is not how you succeed.
This is the same line of thinking that caused us not to sign Abreu.
Look, I don't know this guy from Adam. Never seen him play, never scouted him. My point simply is, IF this guy can play, we...
Skier, I think the beauty is his versatility. If you can be a guy who hits .280 with a dozen homers and a ton of SBs, that would be terrific. And then they can slot him in wherever. It doesn't...
If we sign Lester or Scherzer, let alone both, we don't need a power packed lineup. We can get by with the kids. I'd resign Headley either way.
God I hope so.
God I really want to see Pat Venditte!
Chase is throwing BP.
Seriously though, this is a sports talk forum. There is a rule. You can't talk about the offseason until the offseason. Even if you want to. Not allowed. Even while you watch Baltimore hit bomb...
It's a pennant race?
I agree with this entire post. Except the last sentence.
Not sure if this was directed to me, but if so, you completely misunderstand my point. I get you need all the pieces, but:
- the one thing our farm does well is develop good relievers
- we have...
Ha, seriously. Might be one of the better rotations not from Detroit or Oakland.
