That kind of leadership more so than anything is what the Lions could use above all else. No one on the defense really seems to have that. KVB was supposed to be that guy but he's old and useless. Bring in Te'o and I think he can be the one to help fix this mess. Although you'll have to get creative with he and Tulloch. Maybe run a few 3-4 packages, a few times Te'o outside, Tulloch outside etc.

everything i have read, says he can play any of 3 LB positions. tulloch can only play the MIKE. Te'o is great in coverage and has a nose for the ball. i would not see it being a problem if he came here, position wise

The only way I would be okay with them drafting Te'o... he seems like a perfect fit as an ILB running a 3-4. In fact I would favor the change over this crappy 4-3 wide 9.

But if we are staying in a 4-3 D, we gotta go with a DE IMO if we're looking for a cornerstone guy.

why is having the 3/4 a mandatory move to have teo...Tulloch is not so great that we can't move on from him. I don't care what his contract is we can easily cut him this is the NFL and contracts rarely effect the cap hit. Draft teo, package or cut Tulloch and this defense is better vs. the run already and is better against TE going across the middle. Hell Teo would sniff and snuff out most of these damn screens we see through out the year as well.

We do need to get rid of the wide 9 as our base defense though.

this is not even true...Gunther was in charge of Kansas City's D when they had O'neil and Thomas. Those two men were a dominatine 3/4 NT and 3/4 LB. They played in a 3/4. Schwartz is the man behind the wide 9 and with KVB most likly being gone they will probably scrap that formation. Even now during the games our back up DE's don't line up in the Wide 9 as much.

Everyone is stuck on this running a 3-4 defense if we bring in Teo; but how would you intend to address the DL?

Yes, Suh could come off the edge from time-to-time, but he thrives as a DT (or NT in a 3-4). So if Suh plays the NT in a 3-4, where does Fairley go?

There is no way Fairley could play on the edge consistently. With that said, Suh and Fairley would RARELY be able to take the field at the same time.

In the LB core, Avril could easily move to an OLB tho (if retained)

Manti is 100% what we need! He is the reason we will not trade down in the first round. We will never have to worry about him going to the clink either. Cut Levy or Durant, play Palmer and Te'o at the other position. Manti will earn his spot. Not worried!
