TY.....but he walks a lot. 7/120.
Aside from May, the lowest OBP Swisher had in any other month was .355
It was .390 or more in three months and it was .367 for one month.
Further, as the season went on and we needed production, his walk rates continually increased from June onward.
He did have value, unquestionably...and we all know I'm not a huge fan myself.
But batting average? Come on man.
What good is a guy who gets on base and runs like hippo?
This is not Gardner who can steal bases. If Gardner had Swisher's OBP, he would be an all star year in and year out. If Swisher's OBP was so great, why wasn't he an all star? Oh that's right, hippo.
Point is this, sure Swisher gets on base, but it doesn't amount to anything. Why? Cause our lineup is constructed one dimensionally. It's the long ball or we lose. It became so bad that every game Yankees didn't hit a home run, it was a automatic loss.
I mean, how will we replace those walks and strikeouts and awesome defense?
It is difficult to find guys who can strikeout consistently in big situations.
you showed me a bad october and a season where he had some hot and cold stereak, half of which at least was hot. none of that changes the fact that he was out second best offensive player and anyone we put in his spot will be a downgrade. menaing thats still a hole from last year, since we haven't upgarded anywhere else on the team. losing swisher made up worse
Itchy > Swisher
Whatever hr and walks we lose, itchy makes up with his glove, arm, legs and never striking out.
Oh, and he's 1/7th the price. Hi.
