Isn't Rubby De La Rosa ready to be in the rotation?

Yea maybe not. But the season before that he closed. Nonetheless the point is hes established that he is a dependable, stable arm; which Boston desperately needed. Its not sexy, its not Greinke, but at 3/39 its not a dagger. I would have done 2/26. But thats the way the FA market works.
Lackey 2.0
this is the type of move I don't think the Red Sox should be doing. I think it's unlikely they contend in 2013, so they shouldn't be wasting money like this on someone who wont be a significant help.
even if Demster can have a relatively good season in 2013, I still don't think it helps the Red Sox into contention. as the years go on and the overall Red Sox team is improving, Dempster will be declining.
this is like putting a band aid on a cut that needs stitches.
Don't know how I feel about this. If they sign him to 3 year it's a colossal disaster waiting to happen. I like to see Tazawa starting again cuz he has 4 solid pitches that he commands really well. Depends on what the BP shapes up, I think this team could win 85+ games.
Only signing the sox have made that I dont like. Unless they got him for a big steal
I understand that the shift from the NL to the AL hurt him, but he is exactly what the Red Sox are lacking; a consistent SP who gives you 6+ innings almost every time out. He'll work around 200 innings and is a good clubhouse guy.
Unless the AAV is ridiculous or it's a 3 year deal, I don't see a reason to dislike it for the Sox. You guys needed pitching and the market dictated who you had to go after. A trade would cost assets, a signing costs money. While I understand the money could be used in other aspects of the organization, you don't have to give up prospects to get him.
If its a two year deal i'm ok with it. He's a good clubhouse guy. He seems to be someone that could be a mentor for young pitchers. I wouldn't expect a 18 win, 2.20 era, more like a 14 win, 3.8 era.
Let me get this right...you like the Napoli and Victorino overpays but would not want a pitcher of Dempsters Status on a 13 Million a year deal? I don't get it the other two got over league avg money for production coming off down years and Dempster had one of the best 1st halfs of a pitcher in recent memory.
Good on you Red Sox... Keep throwing money at mediocre talent
^What he said
keep the babysitter away from him
