I'd take a flier on him at up to $6m/year, and for two modest prospects like German Gonzalez and Wilfredo Tovar. Something like that anyway.

If Chicago picks up the majority of his salary like Sick said, I think it's a no-brainer. He'd be a nice fit in the middle of the order.
Yeah if Chicago paid a huge chunk of that money of course you do it.
And while I loved Reyes and wished we could have kept him for max $15M for five years [which he might have taken at one point] or traded him for a big chip like Wheeler, imagine how we fans would be complaining if he remained oft-injured and batted .265 for the next six years.
Next year we start off with very little left to the Santana contract [would we re-sign him and extend his contract at a fair market price if he is an ace this year and remains healthy???] and some of Bay's but maybe $70M committed and $40M to spend. With a few kids mixed in we could get good in a hurry---see Washington Nationals 2011-2012.
I would consider it if the Cubs ate a good portion of his remaining contract. A 20-30 homer, .260+ hitter who has much more range than Duda and probably more than Bay too. Hes gonna be 37 but still producing, Id like to have him without a doubt
On the Cubs website they noted that Jon Heyman of the NYP reported that the Cubs would be willing to trade Soriano and pick up $26 of the $36M/two years remaining on his contract in return for a good prospect. Leaving Harvey, Wheeler and Nimmo out of the discussion for now is there any Met farmhand so untouchable that you wouldn't make that trade? Would you trade Mejia or Familia or WFlores even up for Soriano? I would be tempted to. A 30 home run hitter with 100 RBIs for $5M a year. Opinions?
I might be mistaken but i heard that they were willing to eat $24 million on his contract and they need a first baseman i would look to move Duda and J. Marte or Cory Mazzoni or Jeurys Familia
No way we should give the Cubs anything more than a token low level prospect. As others have said, this is a pure salary dump. Wait them out and they will grab their ankles.
