I think they are better off holding on to him until mid season when they can trade him to a team desperate for middle infield help, they could probably get more back that way.
It does make sense to move him. Hech is a very good defender at SS, likely better than Yunel who is no slouch. Problem is neither of them possess at bat that plays at 3B, they should both be playing SS. Obviously the Marlins are building for the future so Hech is the guy.
They'll take a lot of flack if the move Escobar, but if they can get a starter out of some one it makes a lot of sense.
If the Marlins were smart, they would sell high on Hechavarria. Chances are he'll never be a good hitting SS in this league. So keep Escobar - who is better all around and is still in his prime, and trade the 'prospect' that only has above-average defense and speed.
The Marlins organization is a ****ing joke.
I can see the Rays getting Escobar honestly.
Don't know why people are upset to see he may be traded. IMO it actually makes more sense to trade him than keep him.
