What do you guys think about this sabermetric thing called Elo rater?

This is the top 10 mlb players all time according to Elo:
1. Babe Ruth
2. Willie Mays
3. Honus Wagner
4. Stan Musial
5. Ted Williams
6. Ty Cobb
7. Hank Aaron
8. Rogers Hornsby
9. Tris Speaker
10. Eddie Collins
How is it sabermetric? Unless I'm reading it wrong, it is just people's opinions.

This is a community-based project with the goal of rating the best players in MLB history. In each matchup, the user should choose the player who they believe was the better player. It is up to the user to determine how much weight to give to offense versus defense, peak value versus career value, regular season versus playoffs, etc.
When you pick the winner, thats obviously subjective but the Elo Rating itself is an algorithm that is used in chess and by Jeff Sagarin for ranking teams in college basketball. So the concept is that when someone picks a player, they get a win. And then thats used in the Elo Rating algorithm.
