Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Tigers and Torii Hunter have agreed to a two-year contract, pending a physical.
Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the deal is worth $26 million. Hunter said earlier this week that he planned to make a decision about his future quickly and he stayed true to his word, ultimately settling on the Tigers after meeting with the team in Detroit on Tuesday. The 37-year-old batted .313/.365/.451 with 16 home runs, 92 RBI, nine stolen bases and an .817 OPS this season and should be the everyday right fielder for the Tigers in 2013.
nice.
i like i like, championship! what does this say about NC?
Definite upgrade.
The Tiger killer is finally on our side!!!!!!!!!!!! Great signing for the Tigers!!! Huuuuuge upgrade... Tori just upgraded the defense tremendously... The Tigers just got a lot better... They needed a good fundamental player like Tori on this team
Hell yeah! Our outfield will finally be solidified!
We're not done but love this signing. Still have a feeling we add a pretty big bat sometime this off season.

It turned out Torii chose Tigers as much as they chose him. Told other teams he wasn't interested in talking unless Tigers didn't work out.

Also, Torii set up Tuesday visit to Detroit himself. Told Tigers he wanted to come up. Obviously, they were happy to see him.
Strive, I bet JV did that same fist pump in your sig after he heard about the signing.
Nope, Kate Upton will do all the pumping for him all off season. ;)
So happy!! I think this was the right thing for DD to do. Perfect fit, he's gonna upgrade us tremendously in the outfield as well as at the plate. Not to mention, he's a great clubhouse presence and his mentoring of our young outfield is going to prove invaluable for years to come.
Tori isn't dumb... he knows the Tigers are gonna win a WS next year and he wants to be a part of it
Love this move. Always helps to have a veteran leader who knows how to play the game the right way. In the field and on the base paths our younger players better be watching this guy and how he handles himself. That alone is priceless for our younger guys. Now watch and take a lot of mental notes please. This guy is a leader.
