Debunking Myths 6 games into the Season
Myth number 1:
OMG THE NETS ARE TEH MOZT WORSTEST DEFENSE EVAR
The Nets are a top 10 defensive team in points allowed and would probably be a lot better if they hadn't let off the gas pedal against Orlando and Minnesota. The defense will only get stingier once communication gets better and Gerald Wallace, who is arguably their best defensive presence, returns to the court.
Myth number 2:
BROOK LOPEZ IS SO AWFUL, HE SUCKS, TRADE HIM FOR AN AIR PUMP AND A RACK OF BALLS
Lopez is the second leading scorer on the team right now, by decimal points under DWill and is averaging 7 boards and 2 blocks a game. The team as a whole is underperforming on offense, but Brook Lopez isn't one of them.
Myth number 3:
THE NETS ARE OMGZ AWFUL, THEYRE NOT EVEN GOING TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS.
Let's face it, the talent on this team alone will carry them to no less than the 8th seed. They sit at 4-2, and would be at 5-1 if they didn't fall asleep at the wheel in the second half against the T-Wolves. Joe Johnson and Deron Williams JUST had their first 20 point games last night, and I think it's relatively safe to assume it won't be their last. Anyone in the optimal starting 5 that didn't marry Kim Kardashian can go off for 20+ points on any given night. This is a very dangerous team, and once everything starts to really click as you saw last night, it can be very scary. Even the mighty Heat and the colossal Lakers started/are starting off slow in the first few games of their new identity.
In conclusion: everyone settle the hell down. It's 6 freaking games, and you're all running around screaming about the falling sky like a bunch of Knicks fans. Have a little class and composure.
