WE need a center and here is what i propose....tell me what you think.

We all know we need a center and there are not many teams that have excessive amounts but tell me what you think of a couple of scenerios.


to San Jose....Kessel, Gunnarson or Franson and a 2and rounder
to Us.... Pavelski and Clowe

Yes we lose Kessel but if the leafs make the playoffs do any of us really think he will shine?

to Colorado...... Mac and Kuli
to Us........ Stastny or O'Reilly ( kinda think O'Reilly is untouchable)

I'm thinking with the 6.6 Stastny makes he may be available, plus the Avs have made some really bad trades in the last few years..

and what about Mueller, I think he is worth a 1 year offer like Mac got

1-The point of getting that center is to play with Kessel. You're filling one hole and creating another.

2-That package doesn't likely get you Statsny. The Avs are right at the floor, they don't need to shed ANY contracts.

This thread isn't the brightest, but I do agree with one point, regarding Kessel and the lack of success come playoff time. I am expecting that. He's not exactly your playoff type of player but then again, neither is a guy like say Danny Briere; in terms of size and build.

Hmm.. but how many playoff games has Kessel played as a Leaf?

I mean, you could be right... or you could be wrong. I guess that's the glass half empty/fill scenario :)

I'd rather wait until we sniff the playoffs and see how he does before saying he'll disappear when the guy hasn't even been given a chance.

Completely agree, for all we know he could be that Kane/Briere sniper in the playoffs that every team desperately needs. I wouldn't move Kessel as of yet, but what's interesting is he's a FA soon..

Kessel has 9 goals and 15 points in 15 career playoff games. He's also +8 in the playoffs.

Small sample size, but still those are great numbers in the playoffs. It would be unfair to assume he couldn't come close to replicating numbers like these in the future.

With the Bruins. Where had had big bad guys protecting him. Lucic, Krejci, Chara, etc, other teams are scared of the Bruins and know if they can't outmuscle them.

The Leafs not so much, but I see your point, Kessel has to stay at this point, unless we're blown away.

Krejci is not an enforcer like Lucic, but he's still a physical player. Does he have the build of a big tough guy? No I think he's only 6 1 or 6 feet or something, but he plays much bigger.

JVR might have solved the C issue if you believe the Leafs brass
