Niemi was awarded 2.75 million in arbitration and Chicago walked away. I would love Niemi at 2.75 million, but unfortunately what I have read that number may end up being the starting point in negotiations. San Jose is only looking at 4 million and some change left to fill the roster out (and desperately need to pick up a top 4 defensemen). The price may become too rich. The Nittymaki deal looks even worse now to me
That nittymaki deal looked terrible when I first saw it, now I would like to cry :facepalm:
Pick up Niemi, dump Nittymaki in the minors, make a trade for kaberla.
Sharks get a number 1 goalie, get rid of a bad contract into the minors ( if the owner is willing to accept it) and pick up a top 4 dman who happens to be a great puckmoving defencemen. I would of said acquire bieksa but van wont trade him now with salo's injury.
I would love to see him play for us but I agree with the fellas before me. He'll cost too much and we still have needs to address.
yeah, I don't see it happening...we'll be seeing a lot of Nittymaki & Griess in goal next season. We still need to find a top D Man
