It does when you're trying to make it sound like that's not actually what you're saying lol.
But yeah, I did not realize it was you or DVOA that were in question.
To the DVOA thread? I don't currently have the time for the depth of my response. I'll get to it soon though.
Nice to see ya around dude. Hope everything is going well
Thank you very much!
So that Sloan Conference went amazingly well, about as well as I could've hoped I think. Obviously might've wished to meet a few more people but tough to do with so many there.
Yeah, really excited for the conference. I'm hoping a lot of people attend the Vantage presentation, would be great exposure.
Ah, worth a try. I am doing a Master's in stats, so that may make a difference.
Yeah, I'll check it out- prolly after the SSAC since I'm prepping some research that could appear in a presentation. And honestly we may have a linear weights metric that could kill anything out there right now (including screens, help defense, on ball d, etc. weights). But I'll def check it out when I can, just busy with a lot of other projects + my own grad school work.
Yeah I saw that paper/Goldsberry's Grantland article. I still have to sit down and read the whole paper but there's some good stuff there. I think that's one presentation I'll definitely attend.
If you're still doing your Masters or post-graduate, the university may fund your trip. That's how I'm going. You get a discount as a student as is from MIT- which I knew. Then I found out my university would pay some of the funds if I attended.
I've been blogging a bit but mostly in regards to research. Think I told you about that. But yeah, if you're looking to expand your network, it definitely helps. Although I think starting your own blog can be tough whereas I had a fairly good platform to start out on (meaning a decent amount of readers). I certainly have some interesting twitter followers. But yeah, the lead analyst at Wages of Wins was helping me out with some graphs I had produced in a previous article. So I think I'll give their site another look and check out the new improved Wins Produced (which I hadn't done yet).
