honestly. I think it's because you didn't let Strasburg pitch. Honestly. It was a 5 game series, the best team doesn't exactly win all of those. It's the first team to win 3 games. It's more luck than it is anything to win that first 5 game series. Luck was on the Cards side.

90 regular season wins and being the hottest team in baseball in October (coupled with a good starting staff)

No.

But I would say best overall team on paper, yes.

Strong lineup, bullpen, and rotation. Defense isn't worth a whole lot in the grand scheme of things any way. The Yankees of the late 90's were consistently a bottom 5 team defensively and they won several WS.
