Yea, actually. I didn't support him in the 2004 primary, but I love what he did with the Democratic Party between 2004 - 08. And, I was there -- that 'scream' was taken entirely out of context by the "liberal" media.
What negatives? Feel free to refer back to that comic strip in my signature at any time. But, he wasn't a superhero that single-handedly brought down communism. You do realize that it still exists, right? China is a communist nation and they're among the strongest nations (economically and militaristically) on earth. As far as "greatest Americans" vs "greatest presidents" -- maybe take a look at this. In the chart at the bottom, the highest Reagan ranks is 6th ... and that's in the WSJ which is a notoriously right-leaning publication. Even in the 2009 CSPAN (non-partisan) poll -- Reagan is only 10th. Who's at the top? Lincoln, Washington, FDR (in that order). I don't like John Kerry -- but Howard Dean is pretty cool.
I'm not going to respond to your Reagan comment in that discussion -- I don't want to deviate from the anti-female talk. First, communism was already in free fall and its deterioration and ultimate Soviet breakup were already anticipated. The Soviets overextended themselves in Afghanistan and countries like India had already begun to subscribe to the ideas of the capitalist market. Second, yes I have heard of Reagan Democrats. And, I'll grant you that Carter sucked -- and the Democratic Party was grasping for a leader and a party direction. Their successes of the previous forty years had finally collapsed on themselves. He was certainly not one of our top three presidents. I think he would be lucky to sniff the top ten. Washington, Lincoln, and FDR are universally accepted as our top three. Nor was Hillary ever President. I'll give Reagan credit where credit is due. His "voodoo" economic plan certainly corrected a system that had gone too far left. In that, he was a good President. But, the negatives far outweigh the positives in my book.
