Fries with cheese curds and gravy on top.

Smokes Poutine.

Their gravy is meh but they use so many cheese curds and the seasoning on their fries is pretty killer.

Had a large bacon poutine last week. Just about had a heart attack due to the combination of pure joy and artery clogging goodness.

The poutine in Montreal is far and away the best though. Last summer I went to Montreal Poutine in Old Montreal. Outstanding. Also have had some from small towns/villages along the Quebec/Ontario border and they are all phenomenal. The cheese they use in Quebec is second to none.

I didn't really have traditional poutine.

It was cheese curds & beer cheese sauce smothered over fries.
I guess the cheese sauce was their "gravy", but it was bomb!

My answer was WTF is Poutine, then I googled....

So Fries with brown gravy was a staple in Long Island diners for me growing up and into my late night stoner teens. Cheese fries also a big thing. Also cheese fries dipped in brown gravy.

So while I haven't had Poutine, I can guarantee I love it.

No...

Soggy Fries. Light, unflavourful gravy. Bad, spoiled cheese.

If water can be bad, poutine can be bad.

Yea, I'm there more for the toppings than the gravy. Their gravy is their weakest link.

No... the gravy IS the link between the fries and the curds.

Without the gravy, there would be random blobs of cheese falling off of the fries.
The gravy smothers the cheese, melting it, causing it to become one with the fry. Be one with the fry. Choose Gravy. Gravy 2012.

Edit: I didn't know you were talking about Smokies

i live in a FL beachtown that is basically the mecca for all french-canadian snowbirds this time of year... so, yes, i have had poutine before at any one of the 500 canadian-centric eateries around

Triple Pork is a heart attack.

My personal favourite is Hogtown. I like the mushrooms and onions. I also like Bacon Cheeseburger after.

My friend often buys Triple Pork then adds more toppings (like shaved beef). It looks so good.

The bacon poutine changes my heart beat for 3+ days after eating it. Not sure how I'd handle the triple pork.

I gotta give the Hogtown a try. I think I heard that's their big seller. The gravy they use isn't the best but the fries are killer and they use so many cheese curds, really high quality, so it works out in the end.

Hands up if you've ever eaten at Montreal Poutine in Old Montreal.

To be more specific, they call the cheese curds "Crotte de Fromage" and use a certain sauce called St. Hubert's. I could do me a Poutine right about now :)

yep! it's just before the airport and 595 on the east side... it's a tiny little shack that serves ice cream, hot dogs, poutine and some other french-canadian specialties for all the snowbirds.

Had one the other day at my girlfriends work(fancy restaurant downtown Toronto). Every day they have a poutine special, they change up what they put on it. That day they had a Mexican/Southwestern poutine, holy **** was it good. It was like the fries supreme at Taco Bell only on steroids...and made from scratch. ****ing amazing though. The only fast food place I really frequent often is Harveys and I always get my fries poutined. Still can't believe that place isn't in the U.S. Harveys is a legit fast food place that serves real meat burgers, fresh toppings, fresh fries made in-house etc etc etc. Now I've gone off topic.

Awesome Canadian (fast)food is not off-topic

Harvey's Great Canadian Bacon Bacon Burger

I don't know if I could get that with poutine though, though their poutine is pretty good for a place that doesn't specialize in poutine (which is absolutely essential for an epic poutine experience)
