The Memphis Grizzlies received a protected 2010 first round draft pick, along with center Steven Hunter and cash considerations from the Denver Nuggets in exchange for a future conditional second round draft pick, Grizzlies General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace announced today.

Finally, a deal that Heisley makes that actually helps Memphis while helping another team. I applaud Heisley on this one. Memphis now has three 1st round picks in next year's loaded draft. It's going to be crazy.

This could also mean that Memphis's roster is now set with 13 players, unless of course Hunter is bought out, which is very possible.

Overall, it was a very good move by the Grizz.

Yeah I have been hearing so many people on the ESPN site saying that this is another "Wallace Deal" when essentially it's good for both squads. You only move up say 8 picks as you guys are probably a lottery team while we our a playoff team. You help us save money and in return get a filler and a 1st Rounder. Win-Win in my eyes.

I agree, but I must point out that Denver will likely never see the Memphis pick. The pick they sent to Denver is a future protected 2nd rounder, which probably means it's like a top-55 protected pick. Plus the Lakers own our 2010 2nd rounder, so it definately can't be that.

It's still a great way for Denver to save money though, and they aren't going to need a late 1st rounder anyway.

Lakers own your 2013 2nd Rounder, I didn't know you could trade them that far into the future, but yeah.

We gave them the 2010 pick in the Pau Gasol trade. http://www.nba.com/lakers/news/080201gasol_trade.html
