So, I just want to throw this out there. Nobody is probably going to care much, but I really think there's something wrong with Senator Chuck Grassley.

First he rants about AIG execs and how they should commit suicide, then he endorses a three year spending freeze to stop the spread of socialism, and now today he comes up with this (http://www.c-spanarchives.org/library/index.php?main_page=product_video_info&products_id=284890-1&showVid=true&clipStart=9049.96&clipStop=9109.30) little peach of a comment.

Kent Conrad: (discussing the budget) You know, I used to like you. Let me just say: Oh, you are good.

Chuck Grassley: Well, your wife said the same thing.

I'm concerned, because I usually like Chuck Grassley. He just seems to be a little loose with the lips lately.

Holy crap! Grassley's definitely nuts.

But I'm loving every second of this.

I would be, too; like the whole Michele Bachmann thing lately -- she's nuts, but she's not from my state. And, I really genuinely like Senator Grassley. But, the things that have been coming out of his mouth lately are just absurd.

We have a stronger-than-average challenger emerging to face him for 2010 now, too. This should help him with his short-term fund raising.

Fortunately for Grassley the public doesn't care much about these kind of things. After all, our current VP and Sec of State have made horribly racist and offensive things in the past, and they had no trouble winning elections. So theoretically, little comments that many people probably agree with (give the money back, quit or die) or funny Michael Scott like comments shouldn't hurt him.

But he's a Republican in a shaky time with a good challenger. It won't cost him the election, but he's gotta watch what he says as we get closer to the election.

It's not just this one comment. He's going up there and pretty much saying exactly what's on his mind. I appreciate the honesty. It's just that I don't think all this is going to help his reelection chances.

Maybe he's not planning on running?

No, he's running. He's shot down a bid at running for Governor against Culver (which he could very well win) by saying that he's going to run for re-election.

That's awesome.

As Peter Griffin would say that's Freakin' Sweet.

When I first read this, I was surprised at Grassley. But watch the video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orQSfDzJRy4&feature=related).

And watch this one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRvYJlGIUEs&feature=related) too.

I think Grassley was referencing an introduction the man's wife gave for a speech. I really don't see this as negatively as it could be constructed.

Good dig.

Still funny though.
