Just saw something today in the news.

Leigh Bodden is getting released from the Detroit Lions on Feb 9. What are the chances that he comes back to cleveland. Would anyone even want him back? I believe he was our best CB 2 years ago. It could save us a draft pick by getting him back. We would have to use a draft pick on a CB.

Stats:
Leigh Bodden
88 tackles (76 solo), 6 INTs 3 Fub Rec. in 2007 for the Browns
73 tackles (61 solo), 1 INTs 2 Fub Rec. in 2008 for the Lions

Granted his stats for the lions were not that great, but the lions were just horrible everywhere last year.

Either way i think we will draft a corner but i would def like to pick him up as long as we dont overpay, this would just save u from having to draft a guy like jenkins with the number 5 pick

Bring him back and use the draft pick on a pass rusher.

I would love to sign him back but not at too high of a price. The reason the Lions released him was that he was due $8.5 million as a roster bonus. I know there are other teams interested in him so the price could get out of our reach.

There will be a market for him. I would only consider Leigh if he comes cheap. There are much better options at CB in free agency, namely Dunta Robinson who I would love to see in a Browns uniform. Or we could address the position in the draft. Or better yet, an improved front seven will take pressure off our secondary and maybe brandon macdonald wont get exposed so much

brandon mcdonald get exposed too much? Wouldnt that be a safety issue? You want to talk about exposed lets talk about Eric Wright's non-existent man coverage. It was embarassing. Brandon McDonald was doing fine at corner and only became a liability when sean jones returned from injury and was playing like he didnt care or didnt know how.

Dunta Robinson is better than Leigh Bodden? When did this happen? There stats appear mighty similiar but carry more weight when comparing an injury prone first round 10th overall bust to an undrafted free agent. I'll take a guy who spent a year burning in the hells of nepotism vs. a bust who's spent more time riding the pine the past two years.

Who also would you consider a better cb fa acquisition than Bodden? I'm looking at the list all i see is over the hill and career backups.

Leigh Bodden would be a solid upgrade to the Browns at either cb position. Instead of debating who we should add to the roster we might want to look more into trying to keep a healthy sean jones and daven holly on the roster.

BTW it seems there's a hidden link between Butch Davis regime and Mangini. Same qb and te coach not to mention Hagen is returning back from a position at UNC. Bodden might seem more interested in this regime than the last who wouldnt give him a contract worthy of a starter.

I think wright and B-mac would be ok. bring in a bodden + a healthy holly coming back, then i think we are set.

We need to bring sean jones back. or we would have to draft a SS within the first 2 rounds.

He would be an immediate upgrade over Brandon McDonald, that is for sure.

This would allow McDonald to play as the nickel CB which is what his role should be.

Now that Robinson has gotten the franchise tag I think Bodden's market just got a little bigger. I still say we try to sign him if the price isnt to high.
