View Full Version : Milwaukee Brewers 59-43 vs. Houston Astros 46-55

BREWERS VS. ASTROS

Game 1
Manny Parra 9-2 3.68 vs. Wandy Rodriquez 5-3 3.31
Brewers: Parra is doing his best to imitate the Brewers' new co-aces. "With what CC [Sabathia] does and Ben [Sheets], it ups the ante," Parra said. "It makes you kind of want to taste the same thing they are and not have to use the bullpen." He came close on Sunday in San Francisco on the way to winning his eighth straight decision. Parra worked a career-best 7 2/3 innings, allowing only four hits through seven frames before the Giants rallied for three hits and two runs in the eighth. Both runs scored when Aaron Rowand's double popped in and out of Corey Hart's glove as Hart retreated to deep right field. Parra also set a career high with nine strikeouts.

Game 2
Dave Bush 5-8 4.39 vs. Brandon Backe 6-10 4.79
Brewers: It's Bush's turn in the Brewers' fifth starter platoon. With the acquisition of CC Sabathia and Jeff Suppan being activated from the disabled list, there was not room for both Seth McClung and Bush in the rotation, so the Brewers are using them both. Bush gets the nod in home starts; he is 4-2 with a 2.49 ERA in nine starts at home and 1-6 with a 6.95 ERA in nine games, eight of them starts, on the road.

Game 3
Jeff Suppan 5-6 4.65 vs. Randy Wolf 6-10 4.74
Brewers: Suppan returned from the disabled list on Tuesday and surrendered two Cardinals runs on four hits in his first inning. But he settled in after that, allowing four more hits and only one run through the seventh, leaving the Brewers in position for a comeback. Suppan was on the DL because of a tender elbow, and the "finish" returned to his pitches against the Cardinals, according to catcher Jason Kendall.

Brewers take 2 out of 3

Where was the pinch hitter for Kendall in the 9th? We were down by 2 with a runner on third. Why not bring in Branyan to try and tie it up? Or even Durham who is a switch hitter to get a hit and trim it to one. Instead Yost leaves Kendall in there who is a rightie to face Valverde who is also a rightie. Rivera was available on the bench in case we needed to go to extras. Another poor decision on Ned's part. At least the Cubs lost.

Parra ****ed himself. It wasn't the bullpen's fault. A leadoff walk, infield hit, and a bad play by Kendall loaded the bases with no one out. Riske came in and gave up three runs. It's tough to get out of bases loaded and no one out jams. Two of those runs belong to Parra but the third was Riske's doing.

All three were charged to Parra but that third run could have been prevented by Riske. I don't blame that third run on Parra even though officially it is his run.

Yeah Parra took all 3 from my knowledge. Parra shouldnt of been in that situation in the first place. He gave up the Walk and that spiraled everything downward. Well no harm no foul, Cubs lost and so did the Cards. Still sitting in the same boat as earlier

Why would you leave your catcher who is hitting .253 and a right handed hitter in the game against one of the best closers in all of baseball when you're losing by 2 runs? Especially when you have a guy like Branyan or even Durham who is also a lefty on the bench and could realistically have tied the game with one swing.

OnWisconsin2007

I think Ned should have yanked him after he labored a bit in the inning before. With your bullpen well rested after CC's CG and Sheets going 7 strong, what would it hurt?

Comeon now. Kendall is fine up there. He doesn't strike out and we needed anything but a strikeout there for the last out.

He doesn't strike out but he doesn't get base hits either. He almost always grounds out to the SS. That would be just as bad as a K.

maybe he left kendall in because his OBP is .335 and Branyans is .328. All that says is that kendall has a better chance of getting on.
Also if we do tie it up, then we don't have kendall the rest of the game.

It's not all about hitting. And if we would have pinch hit for kendall, rivera wouldn't have been up until the 12th inning, by then the game could have easily been over, so saying he is just as good of a hitter doesn't matter.

I will probably be banned, although posters on your board have told me that same thing about 25 times yet nothing has happened. Go figure.

My guess is you didn't see that he already got an infraction before you reported it.

So why are his posts still there for everyone to read them? How do I know you gave him an infraction? You're full of ****.

Because I don't have the ability to delete posts in this forum.

And you can tell I gave him an infraction because of the little red card in his post next to the quick quote button.

I still find it comical that the same mods that allow the Cubs forum to get so out of hand are in charge of this forum. Doesn't sound fair, does it? At least 2 Brewers fans should be new mods of this board.

A) The only people with mod powers in this forum are the supermods and Tragedy (MLB mod). Any mod can give an infraction in any forum

B) The Brewers forum isn't active enough to have a mod just for their forum. Just like Diamondbacks, Orioles, White Sox, Reds, Rockies, Tigers, Marlins, Astros, Royals, and pretty much 80% of the teams forums. Mods aren't added because they're Cubs fans, they're added because there's a need in the Cubs forum to have that many mods because there's so many posters.

OK, maybe I'm mistaken, but why does it say that there are 8 moderators at the bottom of the page?

I can already see it happening during the next series. Some Brewer fan says something on this forum and it gets deleted or an infraction given by a Cubs fan. I know it will.

Give it a rest, will you?

The mods are completely fair. You have pushed my buttons in the Cubs forum numerous times, but I let them slide.

Here's an idea. Either discuss the game like adults, or don't go into the opponent's forum.

Why don't you read through the Marlins IGT, and read my comments. Then, read the subsequent posts made from Cubs fans. Then tell me who was discussing the game like an adult? IT WAS ME!

What don't you understand about this, I post like an adult in your forum every single time, even complimenting the Cubs on good plays. Yet it's your posters that are vulgar and break the rules all the time. Do you understand what I'm saying or no?

I've read plenty of your posts. A lot of them are pretty questionable, and I can tell you're testing us.

And if people are antagonizing you in your forum, then you need to report the posts. We can't be everywhere all the time, especially since the Brewers forum isn't one of the busier ones.

Your lack of reporting does not translate to Cubs mod bias. No matter what you say.

Okay guys, starting tomorrow we'll get to see which team is better. Hopefully with the Cubs win today, we'll gain some momentum and actually stop CC from throwing his 4th CG in a row.

Here's to an exciting (and friendly) series!

this pennant race is going down to the last week of the season IMO because they play each other I think 10 times yet

you know normally the bullpen is what screws us up but it was Jeff Suppan's horrible inning and Ned Yost's for keeping him in to long

The next series won't show exactly which team is better, but as long as we split I'm fine with it. I just don't want Milwaukee to lose 3 of 4, that would really suck.

Yeah, it's gonna be a tough time for one or the other if we don't split.

I predict loooooots of overreactions.

I want to win the division but I mainly just want to make the playoffs. So I'd be happy with a split. That way we can just pray the Cardinals keep losing and we'll stay even with each other. After that we can just beat up on easier teams...

I'm not certain, but I'd be willing to bet that the Cardinals have finally returned to earth. I was much more worried about the Brewers at 5 games back than the Cards at 1 or 2.

Come on Brew Crew, I was hoping yall would sweep the Astros and bury them even deeper in the division so that the pressure gets put on Cooper and Wade. Its ok, Im sure Cincinnati will wipe the floor with us.

I cant wait to see Brews vs. Cubs. Good stuff.

Both teams are at full force right? By that I mean every key player is in their respective lineup?

Granted i know wrong forum but your problem isn't Cooper and Wade. It is that Jerry Jones wanna be you have running the club. He has systematically run your organization into the ground. Which is great for Brewer and Cub fan alike.

No doubt. I know I tend to get off topic, which is my biggest fault. Brewers and Cubs should have a down to the wire dog fight for 1st place in the division. I say the Cubs may win the division, but it's gonna come down to the wire. Besides, I've been known to be wrong plenty of times. But I do say it comes down to the wire between the teams.

Good luck!
